Equipment Condition:
Off Helicopter Task
Do not wash bearing. Solvent will
remove lubricant or damage dry-type
bearings.
ANTIFRICTION TYPE BEARINGS
1.
Check antifriction type rod end bearings as
follows:
a.
Wipe bearing with cloth (E120).
b.
Rotate lubricated bearing. Feel for rough
spots, binding or radial looseness. If these
defects are felt, or radial looseness is more
than 0.004 inch, replace bearing.
NOTE
Radial looseness more than 0.004
inch may be felt by hand.
Axial play can vary. In most cases this
type of check will not indicate extent
of bearing damage.
