NOTE
Repair all drive shafts in the same
way. A typical shaft is shown.
1.
Remove light scratches, corrosion and nicks from
outside edge of plates (1).
2.
Blend out nicks, scratches and gouges on the
face of plates (1) with abrasive paper (E15). Do
not go deeper than 0.001 inch.
3.
Blend out scratches, nicks, and gouges on tube
(2) with abrasive paper (E15). Do not go deeper
than 0.010 inch. Keep a blend radius of at
least 1/2 inch. Maximum blend area is 0.80
square-inch.
INSPECT
Epoxy primer (E292 and E293) is
flammable and toxic. It can irritate
skin and cause burns. Use only with
adequate ventilation, away from heat
or open frame. Avoid contact with
skin, eyes, or clothing. In case of
contact, immediately flush skin or eyes
with water for at least 15 minutes.
Get medical attention for eyes.
4.
Touch up tube (2) as needed with epoxy primer
(E292 or E293).
FOLLOW-ON MAINTENANCE:
Close forward drive shaft tunnel access doors (Task
2-2).
