ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE INDICATING SYSTEM
Description
The engine oil temperature indicating system is an
electrical resistance thermometer system. It measures
and indicates the temperature of the oil circulating in the
engine. There is a separate system for each engine.
Each system consists of an indicator and a temperature
bulb. As oil temperature varies, bulb resistance varies,
causing the indicator pointer to move a distance
proportional to the temperature change.
NO BREAK - WORK HARDER
The temperature bulb senses and transmits engine
oil temperature signals to the indicator. The bulb is
calibrated to provide 90.38 ohms resistance at 0ºC
(32ºF). It is located at the 4 oclock position, screwed
into a lube fitting, on the engine.
NO BREAK - WORK HARDER
The indicator is clamp mounted on the center instrument
panel with electrical connections provided through an
electrical connector at the rear of the indicator. The
indicator is calibrated from -70ºC to +150ºC.
