SERVICE PITCH BEARING OIL TANK (Continued)
1-56
WARNING
Prolonged oil leakage can damage
finish and create a work hazard
by making the fuselage slippery. It
can also affect other systems in the
helicopter. Therefore, good judgment
must be used when determining
allowable leakage.
Oil (E254 or E254.1) is a skin irritant.
If oil gets on skin, wash thoroughly. If
oil soaks into clothes, change clothes
immediately. Oil gives off fumes that
can cause injury to personnel. Use in
well-ventilated area.
CAUTION
Oil (E254 or E254.1) can soften paint.
If oil drips on painted surface of
helicopter, wipe up immediately with
clean cloths.
Under normal conditions rotary heads
shall be serviced with only one type
of oil ( E254 or E254.1). Oil (E254)
must be used for temperatures below
-25 F (-32 C).
NOTE
If oil level in sight gage drops from full
(half-way) mark to bottom of glass in
two hours of operation, leakage is too
great. Check for source of leakage.
Repair as required.
Procedure is same to service any
pitch bearing oil tank.
Blade must be over tunnel.
1.
Check average oil level in two sight indicators (1).
2.
Remove lockwire. Remove plug (2) and packing
(3) from tank (4).
3.
Remove plug (5) and packing (6) from housing
(7).
