ALTERNATING CURRENT (AC) POWER DISTRIBUTION
(Continued)
9-30
The generator control unit (GCU) is in the right electrical
equipment pod. It receives input from the PMG section
of the generator to monitor generator operation and
regulate its output to between 113 and 117 volts. If
generator frequency drops below 345 Hz, or if voltage
exceeds 132 volts for more than three seconds or
drops below 100 volts, relays within the GCU shut
down the generator. At the same time, the GCU will
de-energize a contactor in the No. 2 PDP to disconnect
the generator from the bus.
